Really fun game and concept. Graphics are on point!

please help, for the last challenge in the demo, it doesnt tell me how to use pickaxes, and i cant use ropes either

(-1)

Windows defender flagging the exe file, still safe or no?

thats just what windows does for "unknown" exes. its perfectly fine

Super fun, excited to see what's next. it Manages to capture the feel of death grip of outdoor climbing perfectly! for Good and bad, as my mouse fingers are sore now.

One suggestion is that I'd like to use the door as a door or be able to open it at least. You could send us to the guide book screen or something.  But not being able to access it makes me feel like I'm in prison or trapped! Hahahah!

This game lives rent free in my head. I was so excited to see updates resume this year :)

(+2)

played this demo a long time ago, still waiting for more news on it, for some reason rock climbing games really scratch an itch

Love the look of this game, but I can't play it because it's constantly looking up into the top left corner of the screen. Excited to see if mouse centering gets fixed, could be my system though. No worries, cool stuff!

Apparently may be an issue with having a joypad connecting, I'm troubleshooting on my end because I'm excited to try this out :)

And final post here...

HOLY CRAP THIS GAME IS FUN!

I'm really impressed how nice this feels, managing your gear up the higher peak is really interesting and fighting off gulls added some much needed pacing and obstacles to what would otherwise be a one or two note game. The downward demo on that peak is also a good touch, proof that there are lots of ways to add interesting peaks with these mechanics. Love to see what else this could turn into and your other games.

I rock climb IRL and it's pretty different from this these days, but who cares about reality this feels like it's own thing and is pretty sweet. There's absolutely no way that you could put in all the intricacies and manage like 4 points of contact and all that, so that's no issue at all. Using the old gear and the hard falls onto static ropes soloing would hurt so much with each fall lol.

(Disconnecting all controllers did fix look issues if anybody else is having trouble!)

Thank you, glad you enjoyed it and got it working!

Got to play the demo too and it's been refreshing, and challenging, those pigeons are vicious, but at the end, all peaks will be conquered. Keep up the awesome dev work!

i love it so mutch

Great demo, I am keen to see the full version.

Sadly i think you kinda killed it with the last climb...birds! Don't get that at all, they do nothing but cause frustration and kill the experience in my mind. No real need for them. Either get rid of them or maybe give some tips on how to get past them if not.

View can be a little difficult to deal with at times but other than that everything seems well made and works well.

Side note, possible glitch with left hand not holding properly (windows version), i constantly fall due to it letting go for no reason. Never happens with the right hand so it makes me wonder if it's a bug, just seems odd so i thought i would mention it.

Nice job, good luck with future development.

personally, i enjoyed the final climb. the birds made you think about your actions. you seem to have taken a "i shall climb and touch the birds" approach, but i found that having the birds be in the way forces you to jump over them and use the rope in order to not fall

How do I clear the archive?

loved it! great idea and beautiful visuals <3

i absolutely love this. its genuinly so much fun. i havnt actually gotten past the last one though because of those seagulls that make me wanna kill myself. but thats a good thing (actually) and i love how it feels and how smooth everything is. this really has all the potential for lots of popularity and man i really wanna play the full release. i would totally pay for it. and the collectables are great aswell! it would be great to see different paths to complete each level just like the third one in this demo. im ranting because this is really fun and just wanna give a bit of praise.

Looks great!

i love it. i am a big fan of the VR game "climb" and this reminds me of it. I really like it because its basically a really cool version of climb that i dont need to setup Oculus Link for lol. anyways, very original idea and its very well executed. i love it and cant wait to see the finished product!!!!

Thanks a lot! Glad you liked it.

also, i really love the physics, it may not seem like much to my friend but i am all about physics and this has some really cool physics to play around with. i think you should take your time with the game, i want it to be the best it could be!

I've been playing games since I was 6 and this is tied for #3, currently.

so youre 6 years old?

or hes seven and his birthday was in between when he played it and now lol

17...

(1 edit)

oh my bad im stupid  i thought you meant just this game lol sorry

yea i literally read it as:

I've been playing this game since i was 6
(+1)

That's a huge compliment! Thanks!

just realized my comment was way less enthusiastic than I meant lol its literally one of the best games ive ever played, and that list includes AAA titles

(1 edit)

btw ever considered using unreal? especially with ue5 being announced and all...

how did 2 people misunderstand this comment lol

(+1)

Love the appearance and the wobbly physics driven climbing mechanics

Thanks!

You managed to take what would be an annoying waste of time in most other games (getting past a vertical barrier preventing progress) and turn into an awesome game, that's crazy impressive.  Climbing feels amazingly good, there's just enough looseness in the physics that you can slingshot yourself like an living Stretch Armstrong toy once you get a feel for it, the seagulls are realistically depicted as the petty, sadistic little winged demons they truly are,  and the wacky hand physics are the icing on the cake.

My hands actually sweat quite a bit when I got into the groove of climbing,  especially on the final peak. Apparently my brain didn't know or care by that point that the wall was virtual, that it could interpret color signals from my eyeballs, or that its host body is anything but that of a posh 19th century gentleman with superhuman endurance.

I can't wait to play the full version whenever it's finished, however long it may be until then since you can't rush perfection.

Thanks a lot, glad you enjoyed it! Expecting to release sometime later this year.

I made an account just so I could leave a comment about this game.

The concept has so much promise and I can't wait to see how the development continues from here. The only issue I had with the game was with how short it was, but that was completely expected with a brand new game like this. I love the aesthetic of everything and can't wait to buy the full release when it eventually comes out. I don't care how long I have to wait, and as long as time is taken to finish it, that wait will be very worth it.

(1 edit)

Thanks, that means a lot, I am glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully will release later this year.

A really interesting concept. We liked it very much.

(+1)

This game is great. Amazing concept, amazing execution. I didn't encounter any bugs on my first walkthrough, but i did develop some hate for the seagulls. But it's fun to learn how to counter them and where to put ropes.  8/10, would absolutely buy/download the full version, wich comes to my question, wil the game be free when fully released?

Thank you! The final game will be a paid version. I'm not sure on the release date yet, but will hopefully be this year.

(+1)

Ok, first: I absolutely love it. I think this can be the next big game. The concept is great, I feel its like the natural follow up to games Like "Getting Over It", but  with actually more gameplay depth and atmosphere. I think the 19th century setting works great. Only critical feedback at this time would be about the textures, since they proved a little difficult while recording (at least for me) - kind of reminded me of people wearing striped shirts on tv, which creates this horrible effect.

I already did 2 videos on it  (In German) and hope to be climbing more mountains soon!

Thanks and keep up the good work!

Thank you for the feedback! The effect is very much intentional,  and yes, recording videos of it usually leads to terrible compression. I'll look into it.

https://youtu.be/paDH48Qa_qQ  LOVED !! the game it such a beautiful game even tho i wasnt able to finish the last level and raged quited but i love it and i hope you like the video

(+1)

I love it,  I am really looking forward to the full game! Although those Seagulls were definitely driving me mad! (German Lets Play video linked)

(+1)

love the art and concept!

Thanks!

Interesting game with unique gameplay!

it's unplayable on my 2017 macbook pro with Radeon graphics card , presumably because it runs at native resolution. Having a way to set resolution would be nice because I'd really love to try it :)

I mean unplayable due to framerate

Thanks for the heads up, I'll look into it.

Absolutely loved it. Only notes are that I think my rope pulled me down through the summit of the Old Man and killed me a few times, but I respawned on the rope. If the rope actually can prevent you from ascending, it'd be nice to have some on-screen feedback to let you know you're at the end of the rope.

Also, I know this probably isn't meant for speedrunning, but I managed the second peak in around 13 seconds!

Thanks! Yeah the rope bug I'm aware of and have fixed for future versions.  You can definitely speedrun!

Fantastic Demo. Absolutely worth playing. Would love to see a finished version.

Thanks!

Highly recommended.

Thank you!

I found a few bugs, firstly sometime my hand would phase through the mountain make me fall and sometimes when i was falling with the rope and suddenly i would fly up. on windows btw

Thanks,  those are a couple of issues that I'm aware of, and will be fixed for the future.

(1 edit)

Really satisfying to play. I love the rope mechanics but as some said I'd like to swing with it to reach further away slopes.

Some bugs I found

  • Half the times I opened the journal the closed map was covering the left page.
  • After I picked up that hat thingy and started cleaning it, I couldn't find a way to rotate it so I couldn't clean it all. Maybe im just dumb tho. Also could't exit that cleaning minigame.

Other than that seems pretty good. Would love to see it developed further. Seagulls are officially my least favorite animal now.

Thanks, and thank you for the suggestion.

Journal/map issue sounds strange, I'll take a look at it.

About the cleaning segment, I have not implemented an exit feature to the demo yet. You can rotate the hat by holding right-click.

Thank you. Regarding the map thing:

Im on the Mac version if it helps.

Thanks a lot, that's helpful.

I've uploaded a new Mac build just in case.

Nice! Climbing is incredibly enjoyable if not a little stressful, but I was a a tad miffed by the rope.  I think it would be a lot of fun if 'Q' toggled a hold on the rope and you could climb to various lengths with 'W' and 'D' with one hand available for use.  Couple scenarios where I wanted to go half length and swing around a corner to grab a rock. Especially with those bloody seagulls.

Also, as I scale the last rock to summit the 'Old Man of Sjor' the character kept clipping through the ground and falling back down.  Never managed to get past that.

Thank you! Yeah, the rope is still a bit hard to figure out for most I reckon. Thanks for the suggestion!

Concerning the glitch, were you by chance using the rope when you were scaling the last rock?  Could be that the rope was pulling you back down?

You know what, I was. That's probably exactly what caused it.

That's good to know, thanks. Fixing that for the future.

i cant play the guy just looks up and spins around forever

(1 edit)

Not sure what is going there. Can you explain it in more detail?

(1 edit)

it happened to me too. the mouse would go up and left and kept spinning. I fixed it unplugging the controller (ds4), if that may help

I can't play it because I have an azerty keyboard. plz add arrow keys

Thanks, will look into it.

any plans for a mac version?

Mac version is up now!

Nice! Thanks for the quick update :)

please where full game peaks of yore!
